Friday Favourites - Skincare Essentials! (What I Do and Don't Recommend)

Hello m'lovelies!

So it's Fridaayy and I'm back with another Friday Favourites post for you today!

Today I was unsure what to base this favourites post on but I decided to write about the products that complete a skincare routine and include some information about the products I do and products I don't recommend!

This will be a long post but here we go!

I'm going to start with products to remove your makeup (if you don't wear makeup feel welcome to skip to the next part!)

Removing your makeup is essential to ensure you don't breakout. Also it is best to use a seperate product to remove your makeup and cleanse your skin to make sure your skin is cleansed properly and all your makeup is removed!

♥ I think the most popular way to remove makeup is with makeup wipes.
I have tried different brands of makeup wipes such as Simple, Wilkinson Skin Therapy, Garnier, Nivea etc and I like them but I feel that the moisture in the wipes (no mattter what brand) seems to go to the bottom of the packet so I've changed the way I remove my makeup.
If you like makeup wipes then I would recommend the Simple wipes out of all the ones I have tried.
Read my review of the Wilkinson Skin Therapy wipes here.

♥ The way I remove my eye makeup is with cotton pads and the Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make-up Remover.
I really like this and it doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes!
I would definitely recommend this and I see see myself repurchasing this in the future!
However, this can feel oily and greasy so not everyone will like this product.
*This retails at £3.39 for 125ml*

♥ I like the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash to remove the rest of my makeup.
I was one of the people who spent so much money on makeup wipes when I didn't like them much so I decided to purchase this after reading reviews online.
The good thing about this is that it removes my makeup whilst caring for my skin aswell.
You only need one pump of this to remove your makeup well and it really lathers up well!
I already have a backup from a recent promotion but I will definitely repurchase this after my current two bottles run out!
*This retails at £4.94 for 200ml*

Next up, moisturisers!

Moisturisers are essential to keep your skin soft and if your skin is dry, they can help to reduce the dryness. They are also essential as a makeup base so that your makeup has something to cling onto.

♥ The Boots Vitamin E Moisture Lotion SPF 15 is the moisturiser I recommend as a base for your makeup! This moisturises your skin well, sinks in quickly and provides the perfect base for your makeup.
As this has SPF 15, it protects your skin during the day if it is sunny. If you don't wear any makeup, this would be a great product to keep your face moisturised and protected from the sun.
*This retails at £2.85 (available in Boots only) for 100ml*

♥ The other moisturiser I recommend is the Simple Spotless Skin Anti-Blemish Moisturiser.
I love this moisturiser and I really recommend it to be used at night after cleansing your skin.
I haven't tried this under makeup but I recommend using this at night and have a different moisturiser for the day.
Read my full review here.
*This retails at £4.99 for 75ml*

 Next are cleansers!

Cleansers are definitely an essential in any skincare routine! They keep your skin clear, clean and remove the last residue of makeup.

♥ The first cleanser is the Garnier Pure Active Exfo-Brusher Wash.
I recommend this because of the bristles so it really exfoliates the skin on your face.
However, if you have sensitive or very very dry skin then this may not be for you.
If you are like me and don't like body or face scrubs but want to exfoliate the skin on your face then this would work for you!
It cleared my skin a little but not as much as I wanted but this does last a long time!
*This retails at £7.99 for 150ml*

♥ The Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Facial Wash, as I said, this is what I use as a makeup remover but I also use this in the shower after washing my hair to make sure none of the chemicals from my hair products have got into my skin.
I don't think this would be amazing on its own to clear your skin fully.
*This retails at £4.94 for 200ml*

I have heard a lot of hype about the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser but I have sensitive skin so the muslin cloth is too harsh and painful on my skin.

♥ Instead of the Liz Earle cleanser which I know a lot of people love, I really like the LUSH Ultrabland Facial Cleanser.
This is the best cleanser I have used and I have tried cleansers from brands like; Garnier, Liz Earle, Clarins, Clean & Clear, Simple, Neutrogena etc.
I recommend this to absolutely everyone who has problem skin or who just wants to keep their skin clear. You remove this with damp cotton pads which lightly exfoliates your skin.
This does reduce redness on the face too so that is also a plus!
I will definitely repurchase this without a second thought:)
*This retails at £6.75 for 45g or £10.75 for 100g*

Second to last are toners!

Toners are essential as they make sure that all of your cleanser is removed from your skin.

♥ The first toner I tried was the Boots Essentials Cucumber Facial Toner and I finished two bottles of this before I realised it contained alcohol.
I really don't recommend this because of the alcohol and because it made my skin feel tight after I applied it.
I am glad I stopped using this and will never go back to it!
*This retails at £1.42 for 150ml*

♥ The Boots Botanics 100% Organic Rosewater Toning Spritz is my newest toner and I really like it!
It doesn't contain alcohol, doesn't make your skin feel tight and keeps my skin feeling fresh!
I really recommend this to anyone and I will definitely repurchase this!
*This retails at £4.99 for £150ml but is currently £3.33*

 Lastly are blemish/spot treatments!

These aren't essential to everyone as there are some people who never get a breakout but for the people who do, these are an essential as cleansers won't fully treat them.

♥ The Neutrogena Visibly Clear Rapid Clear Treatment is a great product and definitely better than the Simple one I originally used and I am on my second tube of this!
I really recommend this product and it lasts for a very long time!
*This retails at £3.99 for 15ml*

♥ The other is the e.l.f. Mineral Blemish Kit.
This is a mineral powder and it can be used as a concealer aswell as a blemish treatment.
I like this but I reach for this more when I am wearing makeup that day instead of applying this as there isn't really a need to cover up blemishes if I am not going out.
This may not be best if you are on a budge and I like this but I don't think I would repurchase this.
I recommend this if you don't like gel treatments or if you would use this as a concealer too but if you don't like mineral makeup then this won't be for you!
*This retails at £7.50 for 3.3g*

So that is it for this Friday Favourites and I am sorry this was a long post but I hope I have helped you decide which products to purchase:)

Thank you very much for reading!
Have you tried any of these products? What are your favourites?

August Favourites!

Hello m'lovelies!

So I am going to write my August favourites today! I usually write these posts a few days after the month has finished but I will be buying some last minute clothes for when I start sixthform next week so I thought I would write it today:)

Anyway, enough of my rambling!
Here are my favourites from this month;

I only have 6 products for my August favourites but keep reading to see why they were my favourites!

First up is;

This is the Simple Spotless Skin Anti-Blemish Moisturiser.
I am on my second bottle of this and I am a really big fan of it! I use this in the evening after cleansing my skin and it leaves my skin feeling soft!
Read my full review here.
*This retails at £4.99 for 75ml*

The second product is the Boots Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz 100% Organic.
I have mentioned a few times why I purchased this and it was because my last toner contained alcohol and I immediately wanted a new one!
This is 100% organic and contains rosewater so it is very good for my skin. It doesn't leave your skin feeling tight or as if it is drenched in toner!
*This retails at £4.99 for 150ml but is currently £3.33*

Next up is;

I have two bottles of the Topshop Nail Polish and I have only recently purchased some of the Topshop makeup.
I have to say I am presently impressed with the nail polish! The glitter gives a lovely amount in one layer and the colour polish is very opaque even with one swatch!
I own Ice Crush and Mannequin. Ice Crush is a silver-glitter polish and Mannequin is a nude polish.
*Topshop nail polishes range from £5-£6 depending on the polish and they contain 8ml of polish*

This is the Blank Canvas Cosmetics (BCC) F16 Large Tapered Contour/Powder Brush.
I purchased this after seeing this featured many times in Sineady Cady's videos on Youtube.
You can use this blush for applying powder, blush, bronzer and for contouring.
I love the way this applies my powder and blush and it leaves my makeup looking very natural.
*This retails at roughly £12.65 but the euro to pound conversion can change on the website*

The last product is;

This is the powder I have been loving recently and it is the e.l.f. Studio Translucent Matifying Powder.
This keeps my makeup in place all day and leaves my skin looking natural. A little goes a long way with this powder and I will definitely repurchase this!
Read my full review here.
*This retails at £3.75 for 3.8g of product*

Thankyou so much for reading!
Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this August?

Wishlist | Beauty Shopping Before Sixthform!

Hello m'lovelies!

So next week I will be starting sixthform! It is scaring me a little but I will get to meet new people and see people who I haven't seen for about 3 months!

This week I am going shopping and to the cinema with my friend Shannon who is going to the same sixthform and then later in the week I am going shopping with my friend Gemma who is studying her A-Levels at college instead:)

I thought I would write a quick wishlist post for you today of the products I am hoping to look at and possibly purchase some of them before I go back to school! We're not allowed any makeup at my school but that isn't going to happen! I will walk around with my makeup bag or put it in my locker if I have to haha:)

I might purchase some clothes too for both sixthform and outside of school but here is my beauty wishlist before I go back to school;

This isn't my entire beauty wishlist but just some products I would like to look at in person or purchase because of online hype and current deals:)
Obviously I won't be purchasing all of this haha!

Look out for my sixthform and collective hauls coming soon!

Friday Favourites - Maybelline!

Hello m'lovelies!

So it's Friddaayyy! I'm back with another Friday Favourites today and like last week I am going to do favourites based on a brand and today that brand is Maybelline!

I have 6 products to include in this post so lets get started!

First up is;

This is the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation.
I think this was the second liquid foundation I purchased and I really like it!
This has great coverage and lasts a really long time.
I have owned two bottles of this foundation but the pump isn't the best so a lot of product remains in the bottle!
I have normal to combination skin and I think this is good for combination skintones but make sure you set it with a good powder or it may become a little shiny on oily areas during the day.
This doesn't come in a massive amount of shades which can be difficult for people who have really pale skintones.
*This retails at £7.99 for 30ml of product*

Next is;

This is the Maybelline Pure Cover Mineral Concealer.
This is one of Maybelline's discontinued products but I managed to find this online.
I really like this concealer and luckily it is the perfect shade for me!
This covers blemishes really well but I don't really use it for the under-eye area.
I have this in the shade 02 Natural but I am unsure how many shades there are available.
*This can be purchased online and prices will vary*

This is the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation.
This was the first foundation I purchased and it is great for anyone who is either trying out with makeup or who isn't a fan of liquid foundations.
This foundation can also be used as a concealer if you would like!
There are more shades of this foundation than there are of the Dream Satin Liquid so it is definitely easier to find your shade but again there aren't very many shades for pale skintones.
This gives a matte look so it doesn't need to be set with a powder to matify it.
*This retails at £7.69 for 18ml of product*

Next up is;

This is the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer.
This is a concealer which is specifically designed for the under-eye area but it also works well on blemishes.
I really like this concealer but it is a little pricey and can run out quickly depending on how much you use.
I have owned two of these and purchased both on a deal in Superdrug a while back.
I'm not sure what shade I have as it doesn't say it anywhere on the product.
*This retails at £6.99 for roughly 9g of product*

This is the Maybelline Expert Wear Mono Eyeshadow.
If you are a regular reader of my blog then you will know that I don't wear eyeshadow.
However, I love this product as it is great if you want a quick wash of colour over your eyelids.
I have this in the shade 605 Beige Nude/Naked Beige.
*This retails at £4.09*

The last product is;

This is the Maybelline The One-by-One Volum'Express Mascara.
This is by far the best mascara I have used and it looks lovely on your lashes.
I think I am currently using my second 'bottle' of this mascara as it lasts for a very long time!
This mascara has a 'lash catcher' so that it wipes of the excess mascara to make sure there are no clumps and it works really well!
I will definitely continue to purchase this mascara and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try a new mascara:)
*This retails at £8.49 for 10.4 ml of product*

Thanks for reading my Friday Favourites this week and be welcome to request anything or upcoming Friday Favourites:)

After next Friday, I will try as hard as I possibly can to upload a Friday Favourites every week
but I got into the sixthform I wanted after opening my GCSE results yesterday so I may not be able to post them every week as I will need to focus on my A-Levels too:)

Review | e.l.f. Studio Translucent Matifying Powder

Hello m'lovelies!
So today I have a review for you and it is for the e.l.f. Studio Translucent Matifying Powder.
I purchased this as I really wanted to try it out and because I needed a powder to last and keep me shine free all day (especially in this heat!)
This is a translucent powder that is meant to be suitable for all skintones but personally I think this will work better for lighter skintones.

Packaging
The packaging for this product is quite nice!
Not too small for the product to be damaged and also not to big for it to move around too much.
Information on the back.
Picture of the product on the front.
I think they have definitely included all of the information you could need about this product on the outside packaging.

Claims

1. "Achieve flawless skin that's smoother, redefined and shine free."
This definitely makes your skin smoother and shine free!
If by redefined they mean flawless then yes!
Claim 1 - AGREE!

2. "Sets makeup to last longer."
Yes!
On a normal day, my makeup will visibly be disappearing from my skin that I will have to re-powder my face.
With this, I can last 12 hours (yes I wear makeup for too long!) without having to re-powder or in general to check how shiney my face is!
Claim 2 - AGREE!

3. "Mattes skin to diminish oil and shine."
Yes yes yes!!
As I just mentioned, this definitely keeps me oil and shine free throughout the day!
Even on a hot day, I still don't feel the need to re-apply the powder.
Claim 3 - AGREE!

Texture

The texture of the powder is very smooth and silky.
It feels very nice when I apply it onto my face.

 Compact

I really love the design of the compact!
It looks more expensive than it was and there is a very good-sized mirror especially if you need to apply your powder on the go.
The only problem is the size of the sponge! The sponge is the same size as the powder but at least you get an opportunity to use the sponge if you would like:)

 Powder
The powder seems like some sort miracle worker!
It sets my makeup wonderfully, airbrushed and absolutely flawless.
This does provide a little coverage too.
A little goes a very long way with this powder and I think it will last a very long time:)
I will definitely repurchase this powder when I run out!

This retails at £3.75 for 3.8g of product.
I hope this was helpful for you and if there is anything else you want to know about this powder, be welcome to ask!

*Disclaimer - I purchased this with my own money and I was not paid to write this review. All opinions are my own.*

Thanks for reading:)

Friday Favourites - e.l.f. Cosmetics!

Hello everyone!
So it's Fridayyy! I'm back with another Friday Favourites post and today I'm going to do favourites within a brand and that is e.l.f. Cosmetics!
All the products!
I actually have 8 products to include in this post and it was quite difficult to decide as I own between 50 and 60 e.l.f. products!

First is the e.l.f. Studio Blush - Tickled Pink. This is a very sheer blush!
It looks very natural and gives a slight wash of pink to the cheeks.
As this isn't very pigmented and is very sheer, you may have to layer it up to get the look you want but either way it still looks nice!
*This retails at £3.75 for 4.75g*

Next is the e.l.f. Studio Lip Lock Pencil. This is a clear lip liner which stops your lipgloss or lipstick from "bleeding" from your lip line.
I apply this everytime I wear lipstick! This really helps to keep your lipstick place all day without the line being ruined. This is a great product as it works with all colours of lip products.
Read my full review here.
*This retails at £3.75 for 1.7g*

This is the e.l.f. Studio Mini Eyelash Curler. This is the perfect product for anyone who finds it difficult to find an eyelash curler that fits their eyeshape.
This is also good to curl all of your eyelashes in the corner of your eyes and they get curled very well!
*This also retails at £3.75*

The fourth product is the e.l.f. Essential Therapeutic Conditioning Lip Balm - Blackberry Créme.
This is a really moisturising lip balm! It applies moisture to my lips without feeling greasy.
It has a scent that reminds me of scented pens but smells really nice!
Read my full review here.

Next is the e.l.f. Mineral Blemish Kit. This does a really good job of covering blemishes and personally I found that this helps to get rid of blemishes as it works well with my Neutrogena product.
This isn't a miracle worker but I will definitely contine to use it! This can also be used as a concealer if it provides enough coverage.
*This retails at £7.50 for 3.3g*
This is the e.l.f. Studio Translucent Matifying Powder. I have really been loving this product recently! It sets my makeup, keeps it in place all day without any need for a touch-up and makes my skin look flawless!
I will definitely continue to repurchase this!
*This retails at £3.75 for 3.8g of powder.*
Next is the e.l.f. Essentials Nail Polish - Mint Cream. I purchased this after seeing images of the colour online. This is a very gorgeous shade and looks lovely in nail art designs!
I have used this many many times and I already have a backup:)
